ClearNote Health, a company dedicated to improving early detection and monitoring for some of the deadliest cancers, today announced it will present new data for its Avantect® Pancreatic Cancer Test and its Virtuoso® platform at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Conference on Pancreatic Cancer, taking place Sept. 25-28 in San Diego. ClearNote Health will present results from a study with scientists at Sheba Medical Center and Tel Aviv University exploring plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA) 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) profiling and their potential expanded utility as noninvasive biomarkers for treatment monitoring and molecular subtyping in BRCA-positive pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Analysis of 69 plasma samples showed associations between numeric Avantect Pancreatic Cancer Test scores, generated using 5hmC and WGS profiling, and clinical response, acquired resistance, and refractory disease in patients receiving platinum-based chemotherapy or PARP inhibitors. cfDNA 5hmC signals also largely matched tumor subtypes identified through patient-derived xenograft expression profiling, supporting the potential to capture both cancer burden and molecular subtype information from plasma samples.

Designed as a simple blood test, the Avantect Pancreatic Cancer Test is a multiomic assay that combines epigenomic 5hmC patterns, genomic features, and a glycan biomarker, with optimized machine learning algorithms, to detect and evaluate biologically relevant cancer-associated signals. The test provides meaningful context for care discussions and is intended for patients with known genetic predispositions, a family history of pancreatic cancer, or those age 50 or older who have been newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The test has been developed, and the performance characteristics determined, by the ClearNote Health Clinical Laboratory, which is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA) as qualified to perform high-complexity clinical testing and has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The test is being used in the Surveillance of pAncreatic health aFter diabEtes Diagnosis (SAFE-D) study led by the NHS in the UK — one of the world’s largest projects evaluating pancreatic cancer detection in individuals with new-onset diabetes.
